Week of May 11th

Monday - video, "The Civil War" episode #2
Students are to follow along answering the viewing questions and take notes in their packet

Tuesday - 8th grade field day
Students are to bring two drinks and snacks to share

Wednesday - Movie Day, "Step Up 2" rated PG-13
Students must bring in signed parent permission to view movie
There will be a "G" rated movie for students who did not get parent permission

Thursday - Teacher Take Over Day
Students not participating will be working in the computer lab

Friday

8th Grade Dance - $8.00 - 6 to 8 PM

Week of April 27th

Monday - History Alive class activity spoke diagram of the North and South

Tuesday - History Alive activity cont.

Wednesday - Article # 16 - American Government

Thursday - Review Chapter 15 sections 3 & 4; movie form sent home for parent permission

Friday - Create a 25 question test with answer key
5 questions from each section; 4 questions from map on page 464 or 473; 1 essay
NO credit for questions copied from textbook must be student created
- due Monday 5/4 and worth 50 points.

Chapter 15 test is Monday 5/4

We have reviewed all the material and have had excellent class discussions. The workbooks are excellent tools for the students to use for their studying.

Students should be working on their National Park project. Every student has had an opportunity to use the MAC laptops in class to contact the park of their choice. They need 2 brochures of the park for their project.

Week of April 6th, 2009

Welcome Back :)

Now is the time to resupply your school supplies - pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, etc.

Monday - Organize portfolios and notebooks; Start Chapter 15 chapter work & workbooks due Friday, April 17th.
Tuesday- Review concepts in Ch9 -14
Wednesday - Tension between the North & South
Thursday - Guest Speaker, Mr. Arnett, the topic is India. Parent night for field trip at 6:00 pm in auditorium.
Friday - No School

All medication should be turned in to Ms. Peacock-Preston by Thursday. Remember all medication needs to be in the original container and in a plastic bag labeled with student's full name.

Monday, March 16th: FCAT testing continued Science

Tuesday, March 17th: Chapter 12 Team Teaching (cont.)

Wednesday, March 18th: Chapter 12 work due & test

Thursday, March 19th: Chapter 13th Team Teaching starts

Friday, March 20th: Chapter 13 Team Teaching (cont.)

Saturday, March 21st: Duval County History Fair at the Main Library (downtown) Students paricipating need to bring 4 copies of their process paper, backboards, scripts, costumes, etc. Good Luck :)

Field Trip: April 13th - 16th
Parent Meeting: Thursday, April 9th at 6:00 pm in the auditorium.
The last day to turn in medication to Ms. Peacock-Preston is Thursday, April 9th.
All medication must be the original contianer, no loose pills, and placed in a clear ziplock bag labeled with student's full name. No medication will be accepted the morning of the trip.

Week of January 27th

Students should be working on their History Fair projects. The due for the project is February 3rd.

Due to Epep's and grade recovery we will be reviewing Chapter 7 on Monday and Wedneday. The test for Chapter 7 will be on Thursday,January 29th.

Chapter 8 has been assigned and students can be working on reading and completing the chapter work for Friday, January 30th.

Monday, January 26th - Review Chapter 7
Tuesday, January 27th - Field Trip to Stanton and Paxon (bring bag lunch)
Wednesday, January 28th - Continue Chapter 7 review
Thursday, January 29th - CHapter 7 Test
Friday, January 30th - Discuss Chapter 8
